Sustainability at ILA: Outdoor Classroom, Nature Play Space, Composting, Garden Beds & Chicken Coop

Updated: Sep 26, 2019

Here at ILA we believe in creating successful learners, effective contributors, responsible citizens and confident individuals. We use our environment to the fullest to promote meaningful learning and ultimately develop young people who can learn from every day experiences.

Our outdoor education program promotes a healthy body and mind while teaching the children environmental practices that encourage sustainability, exploration of habitats and survival skills. In an outdoor classroom, the educational and learning experience includes:

science, geography, music, environmental art, archery, orientation, imaginative play, physical education and more.

As well as an outdoor classroom we also promote sustainability and environmental education through raising chickens, growing vegetables, composting and recycling. ILA is always working on growing and expanding our school and through the education of our children, the staff and our parents, we hope to be a Green Certified School in the near future.
